An activist, who through his writing, works to bring about tax transparency in Corporate business practices and hopes to see a positive change in India’s taxpaying behavior.

Smarak Swain, a Joint Commissioner of Income Tax has written four disruptive books ranging in the field of international law, financial forensics, and psychology. He is an author and activist who through his writing, works to bring about tax transparency in business practices and an increase in India’s tax paying behaviour. In the Income Tax Department, he has been involved in major investigations in the Bhuvaneshwar and Bangalore office across various sectors of corporates. He is also experienced in the fields of tax administration of charitable and religious trusts and transfer pricing.

A graduate in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, he did his Masters in Taxation and Business Laws (MTBL) from NALSAR University, Hyderabad and joined Indian Revenue Service (IRS) in 2008.
